Livin’ Proof began with a return to the land.
We were drawn to regenerative agriculture and a way of living that reflected how our ancestors once moved—in rhythm with the earth, growing what they needed, and nurturing what sustained them. That path naturally led us to cannabis. Not just a plant, but a medicine, a teacher, and a symbol of reclamation.

We recognize its deep roots in our traditions—used by our people for healing long before that wisdom was erased. In a system that once criminalized this plant and weaponized it against our communities, we now stand in the power of restoring that relationship. For us, cannabis is a tool for reconnection—one that empowers us to heal, redefine wellness, and carry ancestral knowledge forward.

From Cultivation to Creation

When we stepped into the Maryland social equity cannabis licensing process in 2023, we applied with purpose—for both micro-cultivation and processing. Over 1,700 applicants across the state submitted applications, and only 179 licenses were awarded. In our categories alone, the odds were steep: nearly 250 applicants applied for just 24 micro-cultivation licenses, and 90 applicants competed for only 24 micro-processing licenses.

While we weren’t selected for cultivation, we were awarded a micro-processing license and now operate as Livin’ Proof Cultivations—a name that reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

Being selected placed us among a small percentage of applicants chosen to bring their vision to life. And that win wasn’t just a milestone—it was confirmation that this path, this mission, is bigger than us. We may not be growing cannabis—yet—but we co-create with it every day, transforming it into meaningful products that reflect who we are, embody intention, and deepen our connection with the community.
